Study awards

The goal of our study awards is to identify and support a group of talented Hong Kong students and early-career researchers who, through a process of intensive education and exposure to prominent academics in their respective fields, will develop independent and critical abilities and form enduring collaborative partnerships, to enable them to become next generation of leaders of science, technology and medicine in Hong Kong. Eligibility is restricted to permanent Hong Kong residents.

Research fellowships

The Foundation offers several awards to support new and established researchers. Senior Research Fellowships and Senior Medical Research Fellowships are designed to relieve scientists of their teaching and administrative duties and allow them to concentrate on research. Clinical Assistant Professorships support the recruitment of outstanding medical graduates who are committed to pursue a career in academic medicine, and Croucher Innovation Awards are substantial grants offered to exceptionally talented scientists to support their research over a five year period.

Nominations for these awards are usually received through our university portals. Please consult your research panel or write to the Foundation to find out more.

Scientific exchange

The Foundation offers range of competitive funding programmes designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas between scientists in Hong Kong and their counterparts in mainland China and overseas, and to provide intensive training at a senior level in topics of current scientific interest. They include Advanced Study Institutes, where established scientists explore new or important topics with international speakers, CAS-Croucher Joint Laboratories that encourage researchers in Hong Kong universities and CAS research institutes to work together on highly specific scientific topics and Croucher Summer Courses; grants for Hong Kong scientists to host short residential courses for international groups of postgraduate researchers.
